Overview
Radar Tracking is a new automated discovery and update mechanism that extends Robopack Radar’s functionality by regularly detecting and patching manually installed software across your Intune-managed environment. With Radar Tracking enabled, you no longer need to launch manual scans or maintain static deployment groups—everything happens behind the scenes every 24 hours.
Automated 24-Hour Scans
Radar performs a tenant-wide scan once every 24 hours, identifying both Intune-managed apps and manually installed software on endpoints.
Scan Cache
Each scan result is cached, so subsequent automations refer to the latest data without re-scanning on every run.
Dynamic Groups
Deployment groups are dynamic: membership reflects the most recent scan data (for example, devices with an outdated version).
Automated Patch Deployment
When Radar Tracking is included in a patch flow, any detected out-of-date installations are automatically updated to the latest approved version.
Setup Instructions for Enabling Radar Tracking
Scan Your Tenant
In the Robopack console, go to Radar and confirm a scan has been run on your tenant.
Wait for the scan to complete and populate the list of discovered applications.
Select a Manageable App
From the scan results, locate an application that Robopack can manage.
Click Add Patch Flow beside that application.
Configure Deployment Waves
In your new or existing patch flow, define your deployment waves as you normally would (for example, Pilot group, Broad rollout).
After you’ve added at least one wave, the Radar Tracking toggle becomes available.
Activate Radar Tracking
Switch Radar Tracking ON by choosing one of the two modes:
Auto
Robopack will periodically re-scan and automatically detect devices running older versions of the app. Those devices are then assigned to a dynamic compliance group and updated to the latest version without further intervention.
Manual
You define or select a specific Azure AD group. Robopack populates that group with devices running outdated versions. Only devices in the specified group are targeted for the update.
Save and Start Deployment
Review your flow settings and deployment waves.
Click Save and Start Deployment to enable Radar Tracking in your patch flow.
Benefits
Hands-Off Maintenance
No more manual scans—patch updates occur automatically based on daily discovery.
Dynamic Targeting
Deployment groups update in real time to include only devices needing the patch.
Reduced Overhead
Cached scan results eliminate redundant scans, speeding up each run.
Consistent Compliance
Ensures all manually installed software stays up to date without human intervention.
FAQs
Q: Can I still run on-demand scans?
A: Yes. Manual scans remain available under Radar > Refresh Radar Data, and they refresh the cache immediately.
Q: What if a device is offline during the 24-hour scan?
A: The next scan cycle will detect it once it reconnects. Cached data prevents missing updates.
Q: Will Radar Tracking affect my existing patch flows?
A: Only flows where you explicitly enable Radar Tracking will adopt the new behavior. Other flows remain unchanged.
